The horsehead over double arrow mark belongs to the James Watts firm, a notable silversmith and flatware manufacturer based in Philadelphia, PA, operating in the mid-to-late 1800’s. The word COIN indicates "Coin Silver" rather than standard Sterling. This was a common US standard from the 18th century through the late 19th century, signifying that the piece was melted down from US or foreign circulating silver coins. It is generally around 90% pure silver (whereas sterling is 92.5%).
