These pill and trinket boxes were typically produced in Italy and imported or retailed by Florenza, an American costume jewelry brand founded by Dan Kasoff in New York in 1948. The chased brass simulates "ormolu" (a gold-colored alloy) to give the pieces an antique feel. The faceted topaz or amber-colored glass acts as a central "jeweled" cabochon.
